some motivation to keep you going!

So, you know how life can beat and batter you up that all you want to do is give up. You just wanna say I am done! Well, I got there recently and I have my sob story to share.

I recently got locked out of my Instagram account. I use a third-party app for my 2-factor authentication, which seemed like a sound idea until I mistakenly deleted the third-party app without saving my backup codes. Well, I tried to login into my Instagram account on my laptop by using the forgot password system which led to my being locked out of my account on my phone and for life (hopefully not). I have tried reaching Instagram support and their automated messages keep sending the same procedure which despite my trying several times, yield nothing.

Why am I telling you the sob story of my locked-out state on IG? To illustrate the concept of giving up. Stay with me.

See, I recently started a series on tribal misconceptions and I had vowed to try to stay committed to it. It was so supposed to go on until I lost inspiration or couldn’t find any more stories to share.

Well, I had written 5 parts and even though, I was almost reaching that point where I was losing inspiration, it was getting some engagements. People were commenting and sharing their own stories and so, I had to start searching for more resources to share. I was thinking of doing some interviews and even videos. Then, voila! I got locked out and all futile attempts made me want to give up.

I was done, mehn! I felt it was time to move on. Give up sharing my opinions and probably just keep helping others share theirs instead (I was better at it anyway). I rode on the wings of hopeless thoughts until one tiny silly thought came up and said ‘‘what if’’. ‘What if what?’ I responded.

‘‘what if you used another platform?’’, ‘‘another platform? Hell no! What platform has much following and engagements like my IG? What platform would be easy to create designs for? What platform would give me the ease of content creation and be less judgemental of my opinions like my IG?’’ I retorted.

In a tiny voice, it replied 2 platforms, Medium and Linkedin’. ‘‘Naaaah! Come on, my medium has little following and Linkedin is a professional space, people don’t wanna listen to non-professional issues like tribal misconceptions’’, I argued. ‘‘Well, writing about tribal misconceptions would grow your following on medium and maybe you can tweak your tribal stories to illustrate tribalism in the workplace’. ‘‘hmmm…. That’s brilliant actually, that can actually work’’ I responded actually surprised at how great the idea was.

‘‘what if you used another platform?’’, ‘‘another platform? Hell no! What platform has much following and engagements like my IG? What platform would be easy to create designs for? What platform would give me the ease of content creation and be less judgemental of my opinions like my IG?’’ I retorted. In a tiny voice, it replied ‘ 2 platforms, Medium and Linkedin’

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s how I am writing today. The point I am trying to make is this, sometimes and probably every time, life is going to keep throwing you into uncomfortable situations and giving you reasons to give up. It might be a potential investor saying no that brilliant idea of yours, a relationship going south after everything you did to save it, or a job interview that doesn’t yield the best result even though the interviewer told you that your credentials looked amazing.

Rather than throw in the towel, maybe it’s time to say ‘what if’. What if I ask another investor, what if get more knowledge on relationships (read books, cultivate healthy intentional friendships) and tried again, what if got an internship instead of a full-time position. The point is, try again! Don’t give up! Don’t stay locked out! Try another way!

Alright, that’s my two cents on sob stories and motivation and also, my way of telling you that I would begin a series on tribal misconceptions. God help me stay consistent!

Till we meet again my loves. Love, light and Amala!

I am a loud mind that likes sharing her thoughts with the rest of the world. I hope to share stories that reduce societal inconviencies like tribalism/racism.
